New-boy Jarvis enjoying England training

England new boy Matt Jarvis compared his first training session with the England squad to his first day at school.

The Wolves winger had been tipped for international recognition earlier this season following a string of impressive displays and finally received his call up after scoring the winning goal against Aston Villa at the weekend.

The 24-year-old is now part of Fabio Capello plans ahead of England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales in Cardiff and is "feeling fantastic".

"Training was good, short and sharp, I just wanted to get out and train and obviously get more comfortable." Jarvis said. "I didn't really know any of them (England team-mates), it was kind of like having your first day of school again. But they made me feel welcome."

Jarvis added: "I can play on the right or the left and hopefully I can do well."

The winger has enjoyed a dramatic rise to the England squad. He failed to make the grade at Millwall, then made his name in the lower leagues with Gillingham before helping Wolves win promotion to the Premier League.

"It was a rollercoaster," he said. "Obviously I'm delighted with how I've done it."
