Liverpool Plan £20m Double Newcastle United Raid

Anfield boss keen on St James’ Park wide men.

Liverpool are preparing an ambitious move to sign Newcastle United pair Jonas Gutierrez and Jose Enrique this summer. The Anfield side will reportedly look to strengthen their weak left side with the capture of the St James’ Park duo who have been in fine form for the Magpies this season.

Kenny Dalglish is known to be an admirer of Spaniard left back Jose Enrique and he has been linked with a move for the 25 year old former Villarreal man as the Liverpool boss looks to fill the left side of his defence. Paul Konchesky and Emiliano Insua are currently out on loan at Nottingham Forest and Galatasaray respectively and neither appear to be in favour with the manager.

The likes of AC Milan and Man United have also been linked with moves for Enrique who has been at Newcastle United since the summer of 2007 and is apparently reluctant to put pen to paper on a new deal until he sees how the club finishes the season and is also looking to see owner Mike Ashley use the funds generated from the sale of Andy Carroll re-invested in the squad. Many sources believe the former Spanish Under 21 international is readying a move away from the North-East club.

Argentine international Jonas Gutierrez is also on Liverpool’s radar as they look to bring natural width to their attack and having seen how well the left side Newcastle United pair work in tandem the Merseyside is interested in replicating the pairing at Anfield.

With the likes of Milan Jovanovic and Joe Cole failing to make an impact and with Maxi and Dirk Kuyt as the default options on either wing, the addition of an out and out winger appears to be uppermost in Dalglish’s plans hence his reported interest in the likes of Aston Villa contract rebel Ashley Young and Wolves wide man Matt Jarvis.

Reports suggest that the combined valuation for the pair is around £18-20m.

West Ham Plan £5m Double Man United Swoop

Upton Park boss would is keen on Old Trafford pair.

West Ham are planning a hopeful summer swoop for Man United pair Wes Brown and Michael Owen. The East London side’s co-owners are keen to provide significant funds to beef up the club’s squad if they manage to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship this season.

Avram Grant will hope that he is still in charge if they do retain their Premier League status and he will then push for an injection of transfer funds so that he can offer Old Trafford striker Michael Owen.a deal that would help lure him to Upton Park. The former England man’s Man United contract ends this summer and there are no signs that Sir Alex Ferguson will renew the deal due to both his continuous injury issues and the fact that Javier Hernandez has made a seamless transition to Premier League football.

West Ham have a number of attacking options but have still managed to net just 36 Premier League goals this term and they are hopeful that a fully fit Michael Owen would be an effective attacking weapon and the promise of regular first team football and a move to London may appeal to the 30 year old. Currently Carlton Cole and Frédéric Piquionne plus on loan strikers Victor Obinna, Demba Ba and Robbie Keane are the club’s attacking options with the top scorer among them only yielding six Premier League goals this season.

Wes Brown has a year left on his current deal but a falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson has left many to believe that the defender could be on his way out of Old Trafford and West Ham are just one of many clubs interested in the adaptable 31 year old who is apparently available for around £5m.

The one club man has amassed over 350 appearances for Man United and has a vast amount of high level experience and that is why the likes of Tottenham and Everton are also said to be interested and Grant is looking for a reliable player to beef up his defence.

Blackburn’s Sensational £60m Argentinian Double Swoop

Ewood Park owners have run out of patience with their coach and lack of transfer activity and will spice things up this summer.

Speculation is growing that Blackburn Rovers’ owners have lost patience with manager Steve Kean and will replace him with an Argentinian pairing to put the club on the football map.

Venky’s, who bought the club for £23million last November, will ditch the boss, who has failed to impress since controversially taking over from Sam Allardyce.

The Indian-based company has already identified his successor in Argentina legend Diego Maradona, who they hope will persuade compatriot Sergio Aguero to move to the North-West.

The publicity-hungry Venky’s are desperate to announce themselves to the footballing world and believe this is the way to do it.

The board has close links with sport agencies Kentaro and SEM, who are already in negotiations with the pair.

The news is a blow to manager Kean who has struggled to fulfill his promise of turning Blackburn into a European team.

He took over from Allardyce, apparently sacked for his style of play, in December but is struggling to stave off relegation.

Maradona was last seen managing his country in the World Cup where they reached the quarter-finals before losing to Germany.

He won many plaudits for his style of play and man-management and is certainly a colourful character, but will not come cheap and is hoping for a £10million one-year rolling contract.

Venky’s hope he can persuade his son-in-law Aguero to join him at Ewood Park in a sensational £50million deal from Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old is seen as the ideal big-name signing that Blackburn have been craving, but failed with bids for Ronaldinho, David Beckham and Luis Fabiano.
