Liverpool Joined By Juventus And AC Milan In Midfielder Transfer Merry Go Round

Alberto Aquilani’s transfer away from Liverpool is becoming more and more complicated.

AC Milan have joined the chase for Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani.

The 26-year-old remains hopeful of securing a permanent switch to Juventus, having impressed during a season-long loan spell back in his homeland.

But Serie A leaders Milan have entered the race for Aquilani as a replacement for playmaker Andrea Pirlo who himself is expected to join Juve on a free transfer this summer.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and Aquilani’s boyhood club Roma all lead the chase with Juve for Pirlo, which could spell an end to any plans to keep the Liverpool man at the Stadio Olimpico.

The future of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has long been up in the air.

Juventus have had the Italy international on loan for the season, and although they have been happy with his performances, they are unwilling to pay the price previously agreed with the Anfield club to gain his services on a permanent basis.

Now though, the transfer has taken another twist.

AC Milan have entered the race for Aquilani to replace the departing Andrea Pirlo, who will go to Juventus.

Could the AC Milan interest mean Liverpool get the money they are hoping for?

Inter Milan Set For £65m Bid For Tottenham Stars

San Siro giants are keen on White Hart Lane duo.

Inter Milan officials have contacted their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts about the possibility of signing midfielders Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

The Serie A champions want to rebuild an ageing sqaud this summer and see the Spurs duo as the ideal replacements.

Inter manager Leonardo is a long-term admirer of both players and his bosses were impressed by them after playing Tottenham in the Champions League.

The Italians believe they will have a realistic chance of persuading Spurs to sell, should they miss out on the top four.

Inter will test the North London club’s resolve with a £65million double bid for the midfielders.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp insists none of his stars will be sold but chairman Daniel Levy has said the wage bill will have to be reduced if the club do not retain Champions League status.

Modric has said he is not thinking of leaving, but Inter believe they can lure him away by offering him Champions League football next season.

Milan Jovanovic: I Regret Moving To Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Milan Jovanovic regrets moving to Anfield and cannot wait to leave Merseyside.

The 30-year-old joined the Reds last summer was signed on a free from Belgian side Standard Liege by former manager Rafael Benitez.

The Serbian international has struggled to make an impact under Roy Hodgson and then Kenny Dalglish and has been linked with a move away.

Jovanovic is unhappy with his situation and wants to move to back to Europe but admits life would have been different if Benitez stayed in charge.

Asked if he ever regretted his move to England, Jovanovic told Sportske.”If I’m completly honest, I must say that I regulary think about this.

“If I would move to Italy or Germany I would be happier than in England – my life would be nicer.

“And also for my career it would be better to play in Serie A or the Bundesliga.

“In Belgium I was living in an area where there were so many people from Serbia and my life was different, more dynamic.

“Liverpool is such a different place. I’m here alone, without anybody. I’m just a very lonely stranger.

“In my months here I haven’t met anybody from my country. If I wouldn’t have my wife and my kids I just couldn’t speak Serbian with anybody.

“But Liverpool is of course a club which you can’t refuse.”

“My only regret is, that the coach, who brought me at Anfield, left the club even before my arrival,” he said.

“If Rafa Benitez would have stayed in Liverpool I believe everything would be different for me.

“There were 15 other clubs which followed me but I chose Liverpool and made a mistake.”

Arsenal Manager Will Fight Off Chelsea And Manchester City To Sign AC Milan Ace

Emirates boss believes San Siro hero will add steel and experience to midfield and will not allow the player to move to Stamford Bridge or Eastlands.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants Ac Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo to add the steel and experience he feels his side are missing.

The 31-year-old is a free agent in the summer but Wenger will face strong competition from Chelsea and Manchester City.

Wenger wants Pirlo to compete for a place with Alex Song and Abou Diaby, whilst help guide and teach youngsters Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.

Pirlo’s experience of playing the holding role allied with his exquisite passing make him an ideal Wenger signing.

The Italian international has won a World Cup, two Champions League and a Serie A title in a 16-year career.

But both Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Mancini want to bring Pirlo to Chelsea or Manchester City respectively.

Ancelotti wants to work with Pirlo again, after their time at Milan together, but his signing will go against the Blues policy of signing youngsters.

Mancini knows all about Pirlo from his time as manager of Inter Milan, and would love to have San Siro legend to replace Patrick Vieira.

Liverpool to Offer Alberto Aquilani in Wise £10m Inter Milan Swap Deal

Anfield outfit consider using one Italian to land another.

Liverpool will reportedly attempt to land Inter Milan left back Davide Santon by offering Alberto Aquilani in return for the talented young Italian international. Anfield director of football has identified the young San Siro full back as an ideal answer to what has become a problem position and believe that by offering a swap deal they may well persuade Nerazzurri boss Leonardo to sell.

Santon is considered one of the hottest prospects in Italian football but is finding it next to impossible to dislodge either Maicon or Christian Chivu who currently occupy the wide areas of the Inter Milan defence. The 20 year old has therefore been farmed out on loan to struggling Cesena.

Though Santon can operate on either flank Comolli would look to the attack minded Italian to ply his trade on the left as the right side of Liverpool’s defence seems covered with youngster Martin Kelly proving a very able customer and Glen Johnson also available in that position.

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is currently out on loan to Juventus but the Turin side are unwilling to come close to the valuation placed on the former Roma man and the Merseyside outfit are not willing to budge on price so will look instead to offer the proven Italian international in a swap deal to land Santon.

Leonardo may well be interested in such a deal as he seems likely to offload the likes of Sulley Muntari (on loan to Sunderland) whilst Dejan Stankovic and Esteban Cambiasso are both getting on in years and the signing of the 26 year old Liverpool man may represent a good bit of business for all parties concerned.

AC Milan to Make Summer Move for Tottenham Winger Gareth Bale

San Siro club the latest to express interest in White Hart Lane wide man.

Milan are set to intensify their hunt for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale as their search for a wide midfielder continues.

The 21-year-old has impressed Rossoneri coach Massimiliano Allegri with his excellent performances for Spurs in the Champions League this season, and La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Bale, who didn’t play for Wales in Saturday’s 2-0 loss against England, is on their list of summer transfer targets.

However, they are likely to face stiff opposition from the London club, who seem keen to hold on to the star of their run to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

SOURCE: Goal.com

Ac Milan have joined a very long queue indeed as the Serie A table toppers are the latest side to take an interest in Welsh international Gareth Bale. The 21 year old wide man has been in superb form over the past 18 months and Harry Redknapp has already made it clear he has no intentions of selling the left winger.

However if the North London side fail to secure a top four finish this season then perhaps talk of a move away from White Hart Lane will intensify and become a little bit more realistic. The likes of Luka Modric, Rafael Van der Vaart and Sandro have all been linked with moves away from Tottenham in recent months.

San Siro boss Massimiliano Allegri is also said to be targeting Ajax full back Gregory Van der Wiel and Bayern Munich man Arjen Robben whilst Andrea Pirlo is reportedly likely to leave this summer after a decade at the club.

Manchester United to Make £40m Summer Bid for Inter Milan Playmaker Wesley Sneijder

Old Trafford boss keen on San Siro star.

Manchester United will make an audacious attempt to sign Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan in the summer. Even though the 26-year-old midfielder signed a new contract to remain at the San Siro until 2015 it has failed to deter Sir Alex Ferguson from pursuing the Holland star.

Fergie sees Sneijder as the ideal long-term replacement for Paul Scholes. Sneijder has returned to form for Inter since regaining full fitness, leading them into the Champions League quarter-finals. While he maintains he has no desire to quit Italy, close friends claim Sneijder’s head has been turned by United’s interest.

Inter president Massimo Moratti said: “The interest from Manchester United in Sneijder is real, but I didn’t look into it. My only interest is seeing Sneijder play here for many more years to come.” The one stumbling block could be a potential £40million fee and personal demands. Sneijder is earning around £140,000 a week.

SOURCE: Daily Mirror

It’s interesting that Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti would come out and confirm interest from Man United in one of their players as it clearly opens the door for more concrete moves for the talented Dutch international, if indeed the 26 year old is interested in a move to Old Trafford.

Given that life under Leonardo is seemingly far more harmonious than under Rafa Benitez, it seems that there is less incentive for Sneijder to leave the reigning Champions League holders, not least because under the Brazilian boss the Nerazzurri are once again a force to be reckoned with and very much back in the hunt for a sixth straight Serie A title.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly looking to add more creative talents to his midfield, primarily goal scoring talents as the Premier League table toppers don’t have much in that department. Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes have managed just three goals in a combined total of 79 Premier League appearances.

The likes of Chelsea have Frank Lampard, Arsenal have Cesc Fabregas, Liverpool have Steven Gerrard and Tottenham have Rafael Van der Vaart, another player Ferguson is reportedly interested in. Whereas in his pomp Scholes used to weigh in with a dozen plus goals a season, he is now employed in a far deeper role.

Chelsea and Man City Battle for AC Milan Veteran Midfield Maestro

Stamford Bridge and Eastlands sides chase Italian international.

Roberto Mancini is ready to battle Carlo Ancelotti to land AC Milan’s midfield ace Andrea Pirlo. The star is set to leave the San Siro on a free transfer, because Milan want him to accept a substantial pay-cut in exchange for a new deal as they try to trim their wage bill. Chelsea’s former Milan boss Ancelotti remains keen on the Italy playmaker after failing to land him last year and will try again – if he’s still in charge this summer.

Manchester City struggled for creativity when Adam Johnson was injured recently and manager Mancini feels Pirlo could bring a different dimension to his developing side. He is also attracted by his compatriot’s experience – Pirlo has won many top honours in the game, including the Champions League and World Cup. Mancini feels he needs seen-it-all operators such as Pirlo in his squad as he builds a title-winning team at Eastlands, especially as Patrick Vieira is widely expected to quit this summer.

SOURCE: Daily Mirror

It seems that Andrea Pirlo’s lengthy spell at the San Siro is set to come to an abrupt halt due to wage demands that the 31 year old Italian international is not willing to give in to. Therefore he is being presented with two options to significantly increase his bank balance as well as to forge a new era in his footballing career.

After almost a decade in the AC Milan first team there is little that Pirlo has not achieved and one can see why both Chelsea and Man City would want to sign the talented midfielder, regardless of the fact that he may only have a few years left in the tank.

To be fair Pirlo’s game has never been about speed so perhaps there is still much he can achieve. Chelsea however appear to be looking to deal with their ageing squad so not sure how this transfer would fit into those plans. Also taking into account Carlo Ancelotti has the likes of Michael Essien, Frank Lampard, Ramires and John Obi Mikel to squeeze into the centre of his midfield, one wonders where the AC man will fit?

Manchester City may have more need for Pirlo’s creativeness as they can appear quite brittle going forward and clearly Roberto Mancini will no alot about a player he has crossed swords with on a number of occasions.

Manchester United Encouraged to Make Move for £16m Rated AC Milan Centre Back

Old Trafford boss keen on San Siro defender.

Manchester United are pursuing Brazilian international Thiago Silva who has this season come to the fore at the heart of the Ac Milan defence and it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson’s interest has been registered by the 26 year old who appears tempted by talk of an Old Trafford move.

Thiago Silva spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport of his joy at being linked with Manchester United. “It’s great to have my name linked with a club like Manchester United, who are currently one of the cornerstones of European football,” said the 26-year-old. “Without doubt, I am having a very good career and hope to continue progressing. “But at the moment I am just thinking about the Scudetto, which has become an obsession for me.”

The Premier League table toppers have had numerous problems with their back line this season with constant injury problems plaguing England international Rio Ferdinand, who at 32 is entering the latter stages of his accomplished career.

Nemanja Vidic has also had his fair share of time out this term through knocks and suspensions and Jonny Evans has suffered a real drop in form and when circumstances conspired to see the Northern Ireland international force his way back into the first team on Saturday he was ordered off after a rough tackle on Bolton’s Stuart Holden.

Luckily for Ferguson new signing Chris Smalling has been a consistent performer when called upon and has surpassed expectations but the signs are that the Manchester United boss could well do with another centre back to beef up his defensive options.

£16m rated Silva seems very much interested in a move to Manchester United and that may well push Sir Alex Ferguson into action this summer, especially if the former Fluminese man fulfils his obsession of collecting a Scudetto with the San Siro side this season.

Liverpool Fight AC Milan for £10m Left Back Who Would Be Ideal Anfield Signing

Newcastle United man could be just what Anfield side is looking for.

Liverpool remain keen on Newcastle United fullback Jose Enrique. The Daily Star Sunday says Liverpool face a battle with Ac Milan to land Newcastle defender Enrique. The Spaniard has less than 18 months to run on his contract and suspended talks over a new deal until the summer. Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is a big fan of Enrique.

SOURCE: Tribalfootball

Liverpool’s search for a new left back has taken in a tour or Europe and beyond but perhaps the ideal man for the job is based a little way up north in Newcastle? Jose Enrique is apparently unsure of his Magpies future and his insistence to wait until the summer to discuss a new contract surely can only be read as a sign that the 25 year is not sure about his future at St James’ Park.

AC Milan are also keen on the former Spanish Under 21 international who may feel that a new challenge could also increase his chances of securing a first full senior cap? Enrique has been in good form for the past 18 months and has formed a great partnership on the left hand side with Argentine Jonas Gutierrez in front of him.

Kenny Dalglish doesn’t appear to rate Emiliano Insua or Paul Konchesky too highly and has been using Glen Johnson out of position to fill a hole that needs filling. Fabio Aurelio is also at the club but is seen more as a back up rather than a first team regular.

Speculative valuations of Jose Enrique run at around £10m at present which in today’s market seems very reasonable.

Liverpool Target £10m Real Sociedad Winger But Taye Taiwo Looks To Be Heading To AC Milan

Anfield club chase wide-man but will lose defender to San Siro giants.

Liverpool have set their sights on Real Sociedad winger Xabi Prieto but look set to lose out on Olympique Marseille defender Taye Taiwo.

The Sun reports manager Kenny Dalglish will offer the La Liga club £10million for their local star.

The Kop idol realises his team have little natural width and need a player to supply the crosses for another new signing Andy Carroll.

Prieto has demonstrated this ability for the last eight years in Spain scoring 33 goals. He has been likened to Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia.

But Liverpool are unlikely to land Marseille left-back Taiwo.

The Nigerian is out of contract in the summer but looks to be heading to Serie A leaders AC Milan.

The Anfield club were favourites to sign the 25-year-old but the lure of the Champions League proved too much for Taiwo to turn down.
