Stamford Bridge outfit told to stump up big fee for teenage sensation

Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku will cost the club around £25m if they decide to bid for the youngster in the summer. The 17-year-old has been hailed as the heir apparent to Didier Drogba due to his imposing figure and prolific strike record since he made his debut for Anderlecht at the end of the 2008-09 season. The teenager scored 15 league goals in his first full campaign the following year, giving him a valuation of £15m, but another prolific season has resulted in his market value doubling. Anderlecht general manager Herman van Holsbeeck told Belgian paper Sudpresse there are plenty of teams interested in meeting the valuation: “The Lukaku price in the market is 30m euros. “It is true that the player was an interest for Real Madrid, but I think his future is in England. Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool have also asked about him but I see him playing in the Premiership.”

It seems that Anderlecht are warming to the idea of cashing in on Belgian starlet Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea are considered favourites to land the highly rated teenager but only if the West London club is willing to splash the cash for the talented striker.

The likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Man City have been strongly linked with a move for the powerfully built forward who has netted 35 goals in his first two full seasons at his Brussels based outfit. The 17 year old has particularly impressed when on Europa League duty and Chelsea have reportedly been looking to bring the Antwerp born front man to Stamford Bridge for some time.

Chelsea are looking to bring in some young talents to help balance out the ageing members of their squad and the likes of Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka have all been linked with moves away from the Premier League champions this summer and after the signings of Fernando Torres and David Luiz in January it seems that owner Roman Abramovich is keen to flex his financial muscles, but will he be willing to pay such a big price for such a young player?
